About the Yellow House Playschool

Founded in the early 1980s, Yellow House Playschool has long been a trusted part of the Oakland community, providing young children with a warm, nurturing place to learn and grow. Today, our focus is dedicated to our toddler program, serving children ages 24 months to 4 years through a play-based approach centered on exploration, creativity, and connection.

At Yellow House Playschool, we believe young children learn best through hands-on experiences and meaningful relationships. Our outdoor-focused environment encourages curiosity, confidence, independence, and social development while giving toddlers the freedom to move, discover, and engage with the world around them at their own pace.

Leading the program is Jan Lozito, founder and director of Yellow House Playschool. As an experienced educator, longtime community member, mother, and grandmother, Jan brings unmatched warmth, insight, and care to every child and family she works with.
