Yellow House Playschool Health Policies

For the well-being of all children and staff, please keep your child home if they are showing signs of illness or have a fever. Common symptoms such as fatigue, diarrhea, fever, or a persistent cough may indicate that your child is unwell.

If a child shows signs of illness during the day, they will be cared for in a separate space until a parent or emergency contact can pick them up. We rely on staff judgment when determining if a child should be sent home and appreciate your cooperation in helping keep our community healthy.

All children attending any of our programs  must be fully vaccinated. Proof of vaccination, along with the four required forms from county licensing, must be submitted before a child can attend Yellow House Play School.

If a child is exposed to or diagnosed with a contagious, reportable disease, the director will notify all parents by note or email.

We must exclude from care any child who:

  • Who has reportable illness or condition that is contagious; (Parents must inform us within 24 hours if there child has a contagious disease.)

  • With Chicken Pox until the child is no longer infectious or until the lesions are crusted over;

  • Who has vomited two or more times within the past 24 hours;

  • Who has has any abnormally loose stools in the past 24 hours;

  • Who has contagious conjunctivitis or pus draining from the eye (pink eye);

  • Who has had a bacterial infection and has not completed 24 hours of antibiotics;

  • Who has unexplained lethargy and is unable to participate in all regular activities of the day;

  • Who has a 100 degree Fahrenheit temperature or above before fever reducing medication is given;

  • Whose temperature has not been below 100 degress for 24 hours;

  • Who has an undiagnosed rash or a rash attribute to a contagious illness or condition;

  • Who requires more care than our staff can provide without compromising the health and safety of the other children in care;
